Hobbies:
Sailing, scuba diving, and tennis (until my knee gave out after an old skiing accident). I played tennis in a league for 5 years. I have taken golf lessons but I have a long way to go. Lee and I enjoy ballroom dancing.
Travel:
Because my second husband Lee was a professor of
electrical engineering at the University of Maryland he
traveled to many symposiums all over the world. I got to travel
with him. We have been to every continent in the world except
Africa and Antarctica. I could name all the countries but that would
be boring. I can say that the most exotic countries were India,
Soviet Union and China. We were in China in 1981 when
everyone there wore Mao suits. People stared at us because
they had not seen many westerners.
Car:
I drive a darling yellow Mini Cooper that my husband gave me for our 28th wedding anniversary.
Before that I drove a Mercedes 240D which I named slug. She was a diesel and didn’t go very fast but I drove her for 25 years. I sold her because she didn’t have air bags.
House:
For 20 years we lived on an acre of wooded land on a river that empties into the Chesapeake Bay. It was of post and beam construction with high knotty pine cathedral ceilings and lots of open space. We built it in 1987.
Apr/May 2003
We sailed our 45 foot sailboat from Curacao to Tahiti, transiting the Panama Canal. (Terry Ward put together a wonderful website for me describing this voyage). We flew home in June.
Feb. 2004
We returned to Tahiti to our sailboat that was stored on land since we left her.
March 2005
We sold our house in the woods and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. We bought 2 condos side by side in a high rise building that is 30 years old. We put a door between the 2 units and are treating them as one. We are doing a complete rehab from demolition to all new design and new systems.
October 2005
I’ll see you all at reunion!
June 2006
We will return to Tahiti to sail.
