BARRY KNIGHT and IRENE

JBHS Biography

HELLO JBHS '55 Classmates!! From what I have read, I am proud to be a member of this class with so many educators and other contributors to society. My career started with working for a multi-national CPA firm, spent 26 years in the Cal State University System, then spent time in private industry as a VP Finance, and back to academia as a Dean of Business. Those moves took the family from California to Oklahoma to New Mexico, back to California and finally back to Oklahoma. If anyone is remotely interested in any more detail they may look at my EXPANDED BIOGRAPHY Now to the important stuff, FAMILY.

Upon graduation from JBHS, I enrolled at UCLA. By the time I was a senior, I had met and married J. Irene Graham (JBHS '57) and we have been married some 43 plus years. In my senior year, we were night clerks in the Filback/Bailey Mortuary in downtown Burbank, if that brings back any memories.

We started our family after graduation and my return from a stint in the Army and starting my work. We have three wonderful daughters.

Laurie, the CPA (I love to say that), is a partner in a thriving CPA firm in Santa Monica specializing in tax and personal finance services - the firm has a number of notable clients in the entertainment business.

Leslie is a homemaker (with a thriving website preparation business) and lives in Claremore, Oklahoma with her husband and two of our grandchildren, Shawn and Cassie. Irene and I now live 46 seconds from them, according to Shawn, and enjoy seeing them grow up. You know, music recitals, soccer games, dance lessons and lots of Girl Scout cookies and the like.

Our youngest daughter, LeiAn lives in Valencia with her husband and our two youngest grandsons, Jasper (called Jack) who is four and Graham who is just 5 months. With two daughters in Southern California we make many visits there.

Irene, through the years, was the consummate volunteer. As the girls left home, however, she parlayed her library volunteer work into a full time library position and finished up as an assistant research librarian at a medical teaching hospital.

As a result of my career relocations, all of our daughters and spouses either attended and/or graduated from the University of Oklahoma, thus, the strong Oklahoma connection.
